Orange County Breast Outreach Program (OCBOP)
OCBOP facilitates access to breast cancer care and support in Orange County by providing navigation to available services and expanding resources for those who do not qualify for existing programs. Patient navigators help find other resources to meet medical and non-medical needs, guide patients through the complex health care system, and help find financial aid to help breast health patients without insurance. The Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts (CDP: EWC) provides free clinical breast exams, mammograms, pelvic exams and Pap tests to California’s underserved women. Breast Friends a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for breast cancer patients. Often, breast cancer patients, especially the newly diagnosed, are in the greatest emotional pain, but are the least able to ask for help. Breast Friends teaches the friends and family of cancer patients specific ways to offer support, helps them understand what the patient is going through, and suggests useful resources for the patient and her family.
Breast Cancer Network of Strength, formerly known as Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization®, provides immediate emotional relief to anyone affected by breast cancer. The mission is to ensure, through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces breast cancer alone. Their peer support program includes a 24/7 breast cancer support center staffed by trained breast cancer survivors providing peer support through a toll-free hotline, e-mail and support groups.
Metastatic Breast Cancer Patient Centered Guidehas been created especially for those with metastatic breast cancer — individuals who have been initially diagnosed with Stage IV cancer or who are facing a recurrence.
